Air Bags are ideal for carrying occasional heavy loads and tow vehicles. As you can see, the Coil-Rite Air Bag fits neatly inside the coil spring.

However, we recommend fitting the Heavy Duty Kit, preventing any possible damage to the air bag itself. The Kevlar outer cover is excellent protection
from off-road debris and general wear & tear over
the life of the kit.

Firestone’s Ride-Rite Air Bag Assist Kit is designed to assist leaf sprung vehicles. Suitable for the commercial utes that carry the occasional extra heavy load, as they are adjustable to meet load requirements.
However, for consistently heavy loads, we advise they should only be used in conjunction with an aftermarket heavy duty leaf spring upgrade specifically designed for constant load to maintain optimum on-road safety and handling. We fit ALL the best bands of Suspension, ask us for a recommendation to suit your truck.

Suspension Fit for the Job

The essence of the Coil-Rite Kit is to assist your vehicle’s suspension when required, not making it a rigid hard ride and sacrificing daily passenger comfort. The Coil-Rite HD Air Bag Kit is fitted to this Nissan Patrol Ute with a tradesman canopy. This Patrol also has to carry the heavy tow ball weight of their off-road caravan. We have done several coil sprung Nissan Patrol installs similar to this over the years. Replacing tired shocks and springs as required by our customers. Re-installing the original air bag into the new coils after checking for wear & tear.

Optional upgrades include – On-Board Air Control Kit – Portable Air Compressors hard wired – Air Tanks – there is an infinite variety of combinations available at additional cost.

Coil-Rite HD Air Bag Kit fitted to this 150 Series Prado, maintains ride height whilst towing. Without increasing the normal ride height or comfort we retained original new suspension.
Only assisting spring control whilst under load. The customer didn’t wish to increase the original factory ride height. The standard height kit allows him to ‘air down’ the bags when not fully laden & hitched up, so his Prado rides as soft as standard. Perfect for the family’s daily drive.

For older trucks that have suffered from suspension fade, we advise replacement of both springs and shock absorbers.
Air bags are not designed to replace the existing springs only assist them. Working suspension components are essential to handling and safety in all vehicles not just 4wds. Worn out, tired springs will not perform and can put you at risk of an accident.

Over inflation of your Air Bags not only risks damage to the bag, but also the chassis and chassis repairs are very costly. Furthermore, over inflation defeats the purpose of your springs and shock asborbers. These cannot function correctly, as your air bags are tacking all the load and centralising at the attachment point. Not across the length of the chassis rail, front and rear hangers spread the load into the leaf springs.

Most of all, it is vitally important to remember that the over loading of your vehicle, regardless of towing ability is ILLEGAL, voiding YOUR INSURANCE.
