4wd Systems’ Part Time 4wd Conversion Kit – suitable for the Toyota 80 & 105 Series for serious offroaders
Do you use your 4wd for the really hard stuff? Is your truck a constant 4wd like this Landcruiser? The front diff engaged even when H4 isn’t selected?
4wd Systems – Part Time Conversion Kit
There are a lot of Free-Wheeling kits getting about, but this kit from 4wd Systems is a Part Time conversion that truely does what it says. Although the kit comes with the Free-Wheeling Hubs, the real difference with this kit is inside the transfer.
In this conversion the front center diff housing is removed and replaced with a new ‘part time housing’ in the transfer, releasing the front drive shaft. In turn you should get increased fuel economy as the front tailshaft, differential, axles and wheels aren’t being ‘driven’.
Transfer Gear
Another benefit from this kit is reduced wear on your front tailshaft, axles and differential itself, as well as on your wallet reducing costly maintenance on these parts.
Once fitted, the ‘old school’ manual hubs are used to lock in the front wheels and the “diff lock” button on the dash is then used to activate the front differential when H4 is selected.
Transfer Gear
Unfortunately for this Cruiser, both CV’s had already gone, and required replacing due to their constant use. However, after this modification though these should be good for another 10 years of 4wdriving.
Installing the new CV Joint
The constant wear on CV’s and the other driveline components, and the backlash often experienced when changing gear should also be reduced with the installation of this kit by as much as 75%.
Passenger side CV Joint
Steering will also be improved especially the turning circle, and should feel much lighter without drive load on them. The next modification available to the front differential is a diff lock.
More traction off road………
